The problem of evil is much more easily solved without the presupposition of the existence of god, than it is with the existence of god where you come up with a bunch of excuses on behalf of the heavenly father.

Or the baby should be thankful that he was even in a hospital to begin with, born in a time and place where the means to check blood sugar are available, and in the care of a loving father who knows better than to mess with the doctor carrying out a necessary process.

What you are asking, even though it may not be apparent, is "why is there pain period?" Why are we not completely numb all over, unable to feel the sensation of pain? I could go on about how pain is necessary for us to prevent further injury to ourselves, but you would then ask "why the need for pain at all? Why not some other means of injury identification?"

I'm no philosopher, but in a world optimized by God to allow for the greatest amount of believers, it could be that pain is just a component of that formula. It is well documented that the greatest rates of Christian expansion are found in countries hosting the greatest amounts of suffering. There seems to be a correlation between people seeking God, and the amount of pain they experience beforehand. If this is true, even in the slightest, then it would give God plenty of justification for allowing pain.

You're correct. There are lots of other reasons to deem atheists' objections to the story irrelevant. After having read most objections to Job, it is readily apparent that those who object to it have only read it at a juvenile level. Aside from the reasons given by Mariano, that it is a simple STFU from God when we think we can even comprehend his reasoning for doing what he does, there are other lessons that, when spread through thousands of years and billions of people, are worth the loss of one person's family and home. One being the fact that Job, after all he went through, still believed at the end. It acts as a safeguard whenever our own faith falters. "Look at what happened to this guy, and he STILL believed."

Another lesson is that God is in control at all times. The only reason Satan could do what he did was because God allowed it.

Again, everything should be perfect and God shouldn't allow mistakes of any kind ever. Right? To not allow mistakes would be to strip a measure of free will from us. And in that paragraph you imply that you know better. You know for CERTAIN that not allowing the batch to be made in the first place would have resulted in a more efficient production of good than allowing it.

You have to remember, if there is even one good reason that can be found for pain to exist, then using it as an argument against God is rendered moot.
